Google is preparing to roll out a new update that will let smartwatch users create and use Androidify bot watch faces on devices running Wear OS 6. The feature, discovered in the latest Androidify app update (v1.2.1), is still under testing but already shows how Google plans to bring more personalization to its wearables.

The update allows users to design an Androidify character through either a photo prompt or text input, and then select from a variety of watch-face styles to showcase that character. Once customized on the Androidify phone app, the design can be pushed directly to the watch, thanks to new Wear OS 6 APIs.

A hidden option labeled “Send to watch / Install Androidify” has appeared in the app’s “Customize & Export” section, enabling this new process. When selected, it installs the personalized bot as a live watch face on the paired smartwatch.

During testing, the feature worked on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, successfully transferring the custom bot face. However, it failed on a OnePlus Watch 2R, highlighting that only Wear OS 6-powered devices are currently compatible. Watches running older versions of the operating system are unlikely to support this functionality.

Once installed, users must grant the Androidify app permission to change their watch face. After this, their personalized bot can be displayed in different layouts, adding a fun and dynamic visual identity to the wearable.

Though the app update containing the code has been released, the feature is not fully live yet. It appears Google is still refining the experience before a wider rollout. No official launch date has been announced, but industry watchers expect a phased release in the coming weeks as more devices adopt Wear OS 6.

The move marks a revival of Androidify, an app that was once popular for creating quirky Android avatars. By integrating it with Wear OS, Google is hoping to add a playful and customizable element to smartwatches, making them more personal and engaging.

With Androidify bots coming to Wear OS, users may soon have a new way to showcase their style—right on their wrists.
