CHARLOTTE - At approximately 08:25 hours on July 4th, the Charlotte Fire Department was dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision with one vehicle overturned at the intersection of North Sharon Amity Road and Providence Road.

Engine 14 was first to arrive and discovered a sedan off the roadway on its roof with the driver pinned inside.

Engine 19, Ladder 16, Rescue 3 and Battalion Chief 4 arrived shortly thereafter.

Three hydraulic tools were placed in service by Rescue 3 and a 1.75-inch hoseline was stretched by Engine 14.

The driver of the second car was evaluated by members of Ladder 16 and found to be without injuries.

After cuts were made at the B-post on the driver’s side, both driver side doors were removed. The patient was pulled free and turned over to the care of Medic 5 at 08:49 hours.
