DURHAM - At 15:17 hours Saturday, July 10th, Durham firefighters were dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 6205 Farmington Drive off of the 6000 block of Farrington Road.
First arriving units found heavy fire on the third floor of a three story wood frame apartment building. Extension into the attic was evident.
Mutual aid was requested from the Bethesda and Parkwood Fire Departments in Durham County, the Morrisville Fire Department from Wake County, and the Chapel Hill Fire Department from Orange County.
Numerous handlines and master streams were used to control the fire in approximately thirty minutes.
Four firefighters suffered heat related injuries with two requiring transport.
An additional firefighter was transported for minor injuries.
Twenty-three residents were displaced by the blaze.
