GASTON COUNTY - At approximately 10:30 hours Friday morning, January 22, 2010, the Tryonota Fire Department of Gaston County responded to a vehicle down an embankment with a rollover.
A Mustang traveling east on Dallas Cherryville Highway ran off the left side of the road and continued down a 25-foot embankment onto St. Mark Church Road just before to the overpass.
Upon arrival, rescue crews found the car on its top with a patient pinned in the driver’s seat.
Tryonota rescue crews used cribbing along with air bags and struts to lift the car off the ground to gain access for patient removal.
The extrication took approximately twenty minutes to complete.
Tryonota was assisted by GEMS Paramdics and Dallas Rescue Squad.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the collision.
