CAROLINA BEACH - On Sunday afternoon, November 23rd, a boat docked at the Captain’s Quarter’s Condos on Canal Drive in Carolina Beach caught fire.

No one was injured. The black tower of smoke made most believe it was a structure fire.

The Carolina Beach Fire Department responded to the blaze. Once extinguished, the small center console boat sank.

The Coast Guard responded to assess any environmental impacts.

Don Scott, a resident in the condo building, said he heard a few popping noises outside his condo but didn’t know about the blaze until a neighbor called him to inquire.

Other boats docked in adjacent slips experienced minor damage.
