Reader Comments:
For this to have been such a hard impact this driver is lucky to have survived. But I dont understand why it is that the picture has the patient still in the car. This is one of the most unprofessional moves I believe a department can make. Not only is it not professional, but think of the general public who may see this photo and it be one of there family members. Some people dont deal well with seeing there family and friends in such a situation. I urge all departments state wide to be careful posting pictures of the patient, lets keep our profession professional guys.

Editor’s Note:
Our policy in situations such as this: if a victim/patient’s face is visible, we will typically blur their features to protect their privacy. That was done in this case.
If the license plate on a vehicle is visible in a crash photo, we will also blur it for privacy reasons.
The mission of FireNews is to cover the activities of the state’s Fire and Rescue services. As such, the stories are not about the “patient” as much as they are about the fire service.
Traditional media covers what happens to the victims. We see our mission to report on the fire service side of a story, so we try and insulate the public from the story where appropriate.
Thanks.
