New Fire Chief Named for Washington

WASHINGTON - A new fire chief has been selected for Washington.

Robbie Rose was named fire/rescue/EMS chief Monday after serving as interim chief since last June.

Rose, who has been with the city since 1987, replaces Jimmy Davis. Davis was first put on suspension and then let go by the city last summer.

Prior to be named interim chief, Rose served as fire prevention division chief.

PRESS RELEASE

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robert C. Rose of Washington, North Carolina as the new Chief of the Fire/Rescue/EMS Department of the City of Washington. “Robbie” Rose has served the City of Washington since 1987 beginning as a volunteer and working in essentially every capacity as he proceeded through the ranks to his most recent position as Fire Prevention Division Chief. Prior to coming to work with the City of Washington, Robbie was employed for fourteen years with National Spinning Company where he also worked his way through positions to the level of Department Manager.

Mr. Rose obtained an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Wilson Technical Community College in 2004. He has many certifications, in Fire Inspection, Fire Investigations, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medicine and Fire Instructions. Most recently, Robbie completed the North Carolina Association of Fire Chief’s Chief Officer Executive Development Program.

Robbie was selected from among a strong field of candidates from several states. We are extremely pleased to make this appointment and look forward to the positive, stable leadership in Fire and Emergency Medical Services which Robbie Rose will bring to the Fire/Rescue/EMS Department.
