Investigators Look Into Three Overnight Fires in Charlotte

Mecklenburg County

CHARLOTTE - Authorities said three fires ignited overnight in Charlotte. Two of them are considered suspicious.

All three fires occurred within two hours of each other.

A trash can was set on fire next to the public library on South Boulevard. Though the trash can was close to the building, it did not damage it.

Another fire burned a home on Remount Road, damaging the side of it. Firefighters said the home was vacant.

Less than an hour before that fire, flames broke out a few blocks away on Remount Road outside a business.

Investigators said this fire and the other one on Remount are suspicious. They have not yet said what they believe started the fire in the trash can next to the library.

Firefighters said the fire investigation task force could put the information about the three fires together to try and find what caused them and if they are connected.
