GREENSBORO - Three people escaped injury today when a fire broke out in a duplex apartment.

The Greensboro Fire Department has not yet determined how or where the fire at 815 Gregory St. started. Firefighters were called at 10:16 a.m. today.

When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming out of the two-story house. After they contained the fire, they cut a hole in the roof to let smoke escape.

Two adults and a child inside one unit got out safely. The other unit was not occupied.

Fire investigator Bill Lentz said most of the damage appeared to be on the first floor. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
