It still seems to surreal. I sit here looking at his truck, half expecting to see him getting out of it. Our deepest condolences to the PLFD and RFD. Starr, please know we love you and support you. If you need anything, you know where we are.

It seems that for most of the fires in Columbus County that this is the case. As former fire marshal for this county, only a FEW of the stations believe in doing things safely. Many more have personnel who have their hearts in the right place but their mind is outside the fence looking in. I do not even know if this guy is a fire fighter.
One day someone will perish from working a fire and they will see that it is time to change.
Why do you think they cannot keep a Fire Marshal? Too much junk to contend with.
