I do know in FL that the highway patrol cars are now outfitted with dual layer light bars with one layer being blue and one layer being red. The did a study and found that Blue light is more intense during the day and red is more intense and more easily picked up at night. So, they have the capability to turn one layer on, or the other, or both. I have the opinion that our trucks and units don’t have the amount of warning lignts they need to have.

It all still seems so unreal… I can’t believe you’re gone. I will always remember our trips to Fayetteville, and just hanging out having couple of beers… I will cherish every laugh we shared. Thank you for being more than just a friend. You will never be forgotten, brother…

Great that everyone made it out safe this time but what about next time. There were lessons learned here. We as firefighters think that won’t happen to our department. Fire doesn’t segregate if you are volunteer or career. Dave Dodson’s “Art of Reading Smoke” and Frank Branningan’s “Building Construction”. There is a lot of information out there so that we can stop the since-less near misses or DEATHS. Once again very happy to not be going to another FIREFIGHTER’S FUNERAL......

Article: Guilford County Close Call
The town Folk have a good idea and i do not understand why they would want to be help back from what may other towns have done in the past until they can get everything up and running properly maybe pinehurst could leave one Engine in the town Limits and alow for Volunteer space like a Combination Dept and when an alarm is recived then the Volunteers can respond to the call and continue thier training within the county and or at the colleges in the area. i think this may surfice until an town dept can be properly organized through the state of NC

The village of Pinehurst has a volunteer rescue squad that assists in Taylortown. Not to mention, EMS base 4 is right down the road as well. If Taylortown does decide to go the route of a volunteer rescue squad, then the same questions still arise with regard to the fire department. Who is or will be training these men and women? Is their trainer(s) cleared with the NC State Fire Marshall’s Office? What about insurance? What if something happens during training? How are they going to afford equipment, to build a station, and the other costs that go along with providing fire protection service?
Pinehurst Fire Department is a professional, fully staffed, 24 department with 2 stations. The coverage they provide to Taylortown is exceptional and the same quality as is given to the village. Why fix what ain’t broken?
